July 31 Interview Preperation & ProcessWhat can I expect as I go through the interview process? Once the initial screen is complete, it is coupled with your resume and sent to a group of Hiring Managers for review. If there is mutual interest, you will either 1) Be invited to tech screen 2)Your recruiter will follow up with you and ask additional questions. The Technical Screen is conducted by Phone and is typically just one hour with either the Hiring Manager or a Senior member of the team. During the screen you will be asked many problem solving questions, so take some time to prepare. Within 24-48 hours after your technical screen your recruiter will contact you to let you know if they will be proceeding with On Site Interviews. You made it to On Site Interviews, what happens now? The goals of the Microsoft interview process are for us to get to know you and for you to get to know us. We pride ourselves on an in-depth experience that allows that to happen. The process includes actually having you “do the job” during the interview. Expect that beyond asking questions about your background, we’ll also have you test features and write code. If you don’t feel comfortable with that, please let me know. During your interview day, you can expect to meet with three-five people for one hour apiece, so be sure to get a good night’s sleep—it’s an exhausting day! We have a healthy supply of beverages; however, you may wish to bring a snack or two. Bring your questions as well—what do you want to learn about the position, the team, the company in general. Your interviews will be with other Devs, Tests or PM's and Managers, so you’ll have the chance to have those issues addressed by the people doing the job. By the end of the day, we want to make sure that you’ve had a chance to learn what you need to know. August 01 Interview Process...what to expectGoing through the inteview process....what to expect...
You will usually get a call or an email from a recruiter who is interested in your resume. The first thing they will ask you to do is to apply on-line for positions that interest you the most.
Once you have applied to the position, let your recruiter know so the you can arrange a time to talk and do a phone screen. Once the phone screen in completed, the recruiter will bundle of your resume and phonescreen and send them on to the interested hirming manager. The hiring manager may choose to do a follow up call or they may ask you to come in for a formal interveiw loop.
You made it to On-Site Interviews....What happens now?
Shortly after being invited for an interview, you will be contacted by a Recruiting Coordinator (RC). The RC will work with you to schedule a time and date for your interview and confirm who you should ask for when you arrive. The of or before your interview, your recruiter will give you the list of people you will meet with during your interviews. Well, think again. Mobile, Alabama, actually topped a new list of soggiest cities, with more than 5 feet of rainfall annually, according to a study conducted by San Francisco-based WeatherBill, Inc. The Southeast dominated the most rainy list, while the Pacific Northwest never enters the list until Olympia, Washington pops up at number 24. The 10 rainiest cities in the U.S. by amount of annual rainfall include: 1. Mobile, Alabama--67 inches average annual rainfall; 59 average annual rainy days 2. Pensacola, Florida--65 inches average annual rainfall; 56 average annual rainy days 3. New Orleans, Louisiana--64 inches average annual rainfall; 59 average annual rainy days 4. West Palm Beach, Florida--63 inches average annual rainfall; 58 average annual rainy days 5. Lafayette, Louisiana--62 inches average annual rainfall; 55 average annual rainy days 6. Baton Rouge, Louisiana--62 inches average annual rainfall; 56 average annual rainy days 7. Miami, Florida--62 inches average annual rainfall; 57 average annual rainy days 8. Port Arthur, Texas--61 inches average annual rainfall; 51 average annual rainy days 9. Tallahassee, Florida--61 inches average annual rainfall; 56 average annual rainy days 10. Lake Charles, Louisiana--58 inches average annual rainfall; 50 average annual rainy days The study ranked 195 cities in the contiguous 48 states by the amount of rainfall they received annually over a 30-year period, although Olympia actually had the most rainy days on average across the three decades (63) of all the cities in the study. Mobile came in second on the latter scale, with 59 average annual rainy days. (Several cities in Alaska and Hawaii actually receive more than 100 inches of rain a year, but were not included in the study.) Southeastern cities are so prevalent on the list because the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico fuel storms that frequently soak the region, particularly between June and November. The study also found that in the past 30 years, the East and Southeast seemed to be getting wetter, while the West got drier. Florida, Louisiana and Alabama were the wettest states, while California, Montana, Nevada and Arizona were the driest (Las Vegas took the top spot for driest city). Average rainfall was highest in the United States between July and September and lowest between January and March.
